On the occasion of the celebrations for the fortieth anniversary of the Via Fani massacre and the kidnapping of the Honorable Aldo Moro, Undersecretary of State for Defense Domenico Rossi today placed a wreath of flowers in Largo March 16, 1978 in Torrita Tiberina, together with the mayor and the local authorities.

"Italy today pays tribute to a great politician and to the members of the escort, victims of duty, who lost their lives in that cowardly ambush", Said Rossi in his speech,"Recalling their sacrifice we pay tribute to all the men and women of the Defense and Security Department who lost their lives in service to safeguard the institutions".

Rossi concludes: "The wearer of the uniform is aware of his role and is aware of risking his life every day, in our cities and abroad, to defend the state, democracy and the constitution. They are all of them that we can call heroes".

Undersecretary Rossi then paid tribute to the statesman's grave. It was Moro who, in the distressing letters written during the kidnapping in the spring of 1978, asked to be buried right in the small cemetery of Torrita Tiberina, suspended on top of a hill.

The commemoration organized by the municipality of Torrita Tiberina in collaboration with the municipality of Nazzano, among others, attended by school students and local authorities together with citizenship, with the participation of dr. Gildo De Angelis general manager of the regional school office.
