Yesterday morning, in Rome, at the Corazzieri barracks named after Major Alessandro Negri of Sanfront, in the presence of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, the Minister of Defense Roberta Pinotti, the Chief of Defense Staff Claudio Graziano and the General Commander of the Carabinieri Giovanni Nistri, were celebrated the 150 ° anniversary of the constitution of the Corazzieri and the 5 ° National Corazzieri Meeting.
As part of the ceremony the president of the National Carabinieri Association gen. ca Libero Lo Sardo has delivered the new Labaro to the employee Section "Quirinale Gruppo Corazzieri".
Following, in the office of the commander of the Corazzieri regiment, the ordinary stamp dedicated to the regiment was presented in the 150 anniversary of the institution, the value of "0,95", belonging to the thematic series "The Civic sense", realized by Poste Italiane and issued today 19 May 2018 by the Ministry of Economic Development. The exemplary 1 ° was delivered to the President of the Republic. Also present was the Undersecretary of State for Economic Development, Hon. Antonello Giacomelli, president of the Commission for the Study of Cards - Postal Values, prof. Angelo di Stasi, the CEO of Poste Italiane, dott. Matteo Del Fante, the president of the Poligrafico Institute and Mint of the State, dott. Domenico Tudini, and the general manager of Poste Italiane, dott. Giuseppe Lasco.
The stamp, printed by the Poligrafico Institute and Mint of the State, depicts the Court of Honor of the Quirinale Palace, with a Corazziere on horseback in the foreground and, in the background, a lineup of comrades in formation; at the top on the left is the Coat of arms of the Regiment. The "Corazzieri Regiment 150 ° Anniversary of the Institution" legend, the word "Italy" and the value "0,95" complete the philatelic product.
Poste Italiane wanted to commemorate the moment through the realization of a Presidential Collector inside there is a folder in A4 format with two doors, limited edition, containing a stamp of the Corazzieri regiment, a canceled and franked postcard and a personalized envelope with first day stamp.
The "Bollettino illustrativo" was published as a commentary on the issue, with an article signed by the general commander of the Carabinieri Giovanni Nistri.
THE CORAZZIERI REGGIO
It was 7 February 1868 when, by order of the Ministry of War, 80 Carabinieri were concentrated in Florence on horseback destined as an escort of honor to the royal procession that was to be formed when Princess Margherita di Savoia, marrying Prince Umberto, would enter solemnly in the city. The Carabinieri wore the helmets and cuirasses already used at the wedding of the Duke of Savoy. This time, however, the squadron was not immediately dissolved but intended for the guard of the royal apartments and escort of honor to the person of the king. The individual members of the special department had to possess, in addition to peculiar physical qualities of stature, particular robustness and ability to mount on horseback, distinguishing requirements of moral and disciplinary honor. The department over time took various names. After the Second World War, at the outcome of the institutional referendum that sanctioned the birth of the Republic, Umberto II dissolved the Carabinieri Guards of the King from the oath to his person but not from that of loyalty to the Fatherland. Temporarily removed the traditional armor and under the name of Carabinieri squadron on horseback, the department continued to guard the temporary head of state. The 11 May 1948, on the occasion of the inauguration of President Enaudi, it was decided that i Carabinieri Guards summarized their primitive dress and denomination. In the following decades there were further changes in the joint and the Squadron it became first Squadroni Group and then Carabinieri Command Guards of the President of the Republic. In the 1990 he assumed reggimental rank with the name of Carabinieri Regiment Guards of the Republic and 24 1992 December XNUMX, with the Decree of the President of the Republic, was established the current name of the department in Corazzieri Regiment.
