Boeing today delivered the first of the fourteen E-3A aircraft to NATO Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) with cockpit upgrades.

La Communication Navigation Surveillance / Air Traffic Management (CNS / ATM) and avionics improvements ensure compliance with current and future requirements for air traffic control and navigation.

Updates include five color screens, which provide crew members with customizable data on engines, in addition to navigation and radar.

NATO's AWACS fleet is the first Alliance's integrated multinational flight unit. Provides rapid deployment, air surveillance and communications for operations.

Thirteen additional NATO AWACS will receive the upgrade, as part of a commitment to 257 million dollars. The second aircraft update is already underway and completion for the entire fleet is scheduled in the 2018.
