Rheinmetall to produce 22 chassis and weapon systems for the PzH 2000 for the Bundeswehr

Rheinmetall has contracted for the production of 22 chassis and weapon systems for PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers. The group, based in Düsseldorf, has received an order from KNDS Germany to supply major components for 22 PzH 2000 self-propelled guns through its divisions Weapon and Ammunition e Vehicle Systems Europe.

Rheinmetall will build 22 52 mm caliber L155 weapon systems and the same number of chassis for the PzH 2000 for the German Bundeswehr. After integration and final commissioning at the Unterluess site, the first of these artillery systems will be delivered to the Bundeswehr in the summer of 2025.

This agreement involves a total volume of approximately 135 million euros.

The contract highlights Rheinmetall's experience as a technology leader for 155 mm artillery weapons, as well as being a high-performance partner in the construction of tracked vehicles.

Rheinmetall is a global leader in guns and related ammunition technology - including for example the 120mm smoothbore for combat tanks. Many nations around the world rely on Rheinmetall technology.

The agreement underlines the Bundeswehr's confidence in the quality and reliability of the PzH 2000. This weapon system, continuously modernized since its development in the 80s and 90s, is known for its excellent mobility, long-range firepower and protection.
