The head of SMD congratulates athletes from the Armed Forces sports groups for medals at the Rio Olympics

The Defense Chief of Staff, General Claudio Graziano, congratulates, through a tweet, with the athletes belonging to the Armed Forces sports groups for the first medals won at the Rio Olympics.

"Bravi @fabiobasile66 @GDetti @fradallape @Giuffridajudo first medals athletes #forzearmate #Rio2016" reads on the Twitter account of the Defense General Staff.

Thanks to the gold won by Fabio Basile of the Esercito sports group, we reached the 200ª Italian gold medal in Olympic history.

There are 75 military athletes present in Rio (29 from the Army, 8 from the Navy, 23 from the Air Force, 15 from the Carabinieri) - 38 men and 37 women - who will compete in 55 sports, from fencing to archery , from swimming to rhythmic and artistic gymnastics but also skeet shooting, target shooting and many others.
