On the St. Moritz (SUI) World Skeleton (ice discipline) track, the Army achieved a historic result with Major Corporal Amedeo Bagnis, who achieved the first individual world medal for Italy in a world championship of the specialty.

The Alpine of Army Sports Center of Courmayeur (AO), among the protagonists of the four downhill heats in the two days of competition, managed to conquer the silver medal behind the Englishman Matt Weston and in front of the Korean Seunggi Jung.

This is the first Italian medal at the world championships and it is also the result of an important continuity for the sport of the Italian Army with the passing of the baton by the current technical director of the national team, Maurizio Oioli, already an athlete in the same discipline for the Army Sports Center, to the young Alpine Piedmontese.
