Two months of training in the "Folgore" gym and in the "Carabinieri Officers' School" in Rome. Three scheduled launches. This is how last weekend, at Campovolo di Reggio Emilia, the paratroopers of the Rome Section, belonging to the 163 ° course and the 1 ° course of the Carabinieri officers, obtained the qualification to launch.

An intense weekend, where the concentration of the launch was joined by the emotion of memory, that for the lieutenant colonel of the Carabinieri Cristiano Congiu, who fell in service on 3 June 2011 in the Panjshir Valley in Afghanistan. In fact, the two courses were named after Congiu, a paratrooper and an active member of the Rome ANPdI Section. A man of great experience, Congiu had started his career in the paratroopers battalion Tuscania and in the company Trajan of Naples, then taking part in security services during the Atlanta Olympics and being assigned to the 1998 for an operational assignment in Albania. In 2011, Afghanistan, where he was serving at the Italian embassy in Kabul as a drug addict, in an attempt to defend an American colleague from the attack of a young Afghan robbers, he was killed by a kalashnikov burst.

A patent, the one obtained by the students, who did not leave indifferent the many ANPdI members present at the baptism of the air and who for the event carried out several training launches or to use a technical term, carried out the reconditioning. Among them was the launch of the paratroopers Marco Mattia Magretti and Marco Dell'Arciprete who were already official in the 1980's in service at the 5 ° paratrooper battalion in Siena.

Instructors, coadjutors and car instructors of the Rome Section have completed their work with the courses, thanks to the valuable contribution and professionalism of all the technical staff at the ANPdI School of Paratrooping in Como.
