For 65 years, Italy and Pakistan have been linked by solid friendships and an important bilateral collaboration. Relationships that we can further consolidate.
This was stated by Minister Pinotti, during the meeting with the President of the Republic, Mamnoon Hussain, on the occasion of his first official visit to Pakistan.
A cordial conversation during which the head of the department expressed solidarity and appreciation on the part of Italy for Pakistan's commitment in the fight against terrorism. Pakistan is the second country in the world for victims of terrorism. A heavy duty, for which he deploys 200 soldiers, without any outside help.
With President Hussain, Minister Pinotti also dwelt on the common commitment in Afghanistan, underlining the role of Pakistan for stabilization and peace in the region.
Bilateral cooperation and training were at the center of the bilateral meeting between Minister Pinotti and his Pakistani colleague, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister Pinotti expressed his appreciation.
The two ministers expressed a common desire to develop partnership projects between companies. The idea is to bring together Italian technology, manufacturing and infrastructure from Pakistan to create a hub in the region.
Pinotti and Asif then agreed on the need to intensify the collaboration between the defense staffs of the two countries to create more training opportunities in Italian military academies.
On the occasion of the official visit, Minister Pinotti took part in a conference at the National University of Sciences and Technology in Islamabad, speaking on the topic “The role of Italy in military operations to support peace”. In front of a young and interactive audience, he illustrated the role of Italy in peace keeping global: from a historical retrospective, to the founding values, to the current commitment in many crisis scenarios.
