The Italian blue helmets have completed the "UXO Mine Awareness" and "Basic and Combat Medical Care" courses for the Lebanese army soldiers at the "Millevoi" base in Shama, home of Unifil's Sector West headquarters. .

The course, conducted by military instructors from the Combat Service Battalion had the purpose of getting the visitors to the main knowledge of the related trainings.

In particular the military of the Lebanese Army Forces (LAF) trained with Italian specialists during a busy week of theoretical and practical activities divided into two courses.

In the first, they were able to deepen their knowledge of the Unexploded Ordnance - UXO and the mines present in the Lebanese operative area as well as the procedures and behaviors to be implemented in case of recovery.

During the course as a medical rescuer, instead, they acquired basic elements regarding the main vital functions of the human body and the relative maneuvers to be adopted in emergency situations for the survival of wounded soldiers.

The level reached by the course-goers highlighted, once again, the synergy achieved between the UNIFIL blue helmets and the LAFs according to the provisions of the UN Security Council 1701 resolution which, among the focal points, provides support to the Lebanese Armed Forces.

During the final ceremonies, during which the certificates were distributed, the Deputy Commander of the Sector West, Colonel Brian Cleary, and the Chief of Staff, Colonel Livio Ciancarella, participated along with some officers of the Lebanese Armed Forces.

The current mission in Lebanon is to lead the "Pozzuolo del Friuli" cavalry Brigade, in its fifth term in the "Leonte" operation.
