In recent days, the Italian military effective at European Union Training Mission (EUTM) Somalia, as part of bilateral relations and cooperation between Italy and Somalia, donated a tanker for drinking water, with the capacity of 15.000 liters, destined for the rural villages of the Warsheick district, in the Middle region Shabeele.

The event was held at the international airport of Mogadishu, where Colonel Bernardo Mencaraglia, commander of the National Support Element (NSE), delivered the vehicle to the local community leader, Abdullahi Mohamed Osman, in the presence of civil and military authorities.

The donation is the final act of a wider project aimed at improving the living conditions of the rural populations of the Warsheick district, and previously involved the restructuring and modernization of a well, a cistern and a water trough for animals.

Aid to the institutions and the Somali population is part of Italy's efforts in international initiatives to safeguard the peace and stability of Somalia.
