Somalia: the Italian contingent delivers sports equipment and drugs

In recent days, the national component in support of the European Union Training Mission Somalia in Mogadishu, has completed three projects for the donation to the Somali population of sports equipment, medicines, personal computers, made available by Italian sports and combat associations.

Colonel Bernardo Mencaraglia, commander of the Italian National Support Element (IT-NSE), assisted by the military of the CIMIC component (Military Civil Cooperation), in the presence of the representative of the mayor of Mogadishu, captain Mohamud Hussein Moghe, and representatives of the sports federations national and regional, has delivered various sports equipment donated by sports associations Virtus Entella of Chiavari (GE) and from Ternana Calcio of Terni, destined to two handball teams (Heegan and Horseed Clubs) and to five soccer teams one of which included in the series B of Somalia (Gantalaha Afgoye Club).

The representative of the municipality acknowledged the importance of these projects in favor of young people who effectively contribute to growing prospects for their future.

A few days earlier they had been delivered to the military hospital of Mogadishu - a health facility open also to civilians - drugs and computer equipment, supplied by the Alpine group "Mario Paganio" of Arzignano - Vicenza section, to be used to improve the management of the hospital and for health interventions in favor of hospitalized staff.

The Italian contingent of the EUTM Somalia mission mainly contributes to the formation of the local security forces responsible for security in the country, but also to the realization of projects for the improvement of the living conditions of the African people.
