In the late morning of Thursday 14 April, the Rescue Coordination Center (RCC) of the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) requested the intervention of an HH212A helicopter of the Italian Cooperation Mission in the Field of Defense for the urgent transport of a patient suffering from a heart attack.
The helicopter, name Rescue 1212, after embarking a medical team, he took off for the hospital in Gozo. The patient, in a state of unconsciousness, once stabilized by the medical team, was taken on board and immediately transported to the Malta airport.
An ambulance was on the spot to summon him for the subsequent transfer to the Mater Dei hospital.
After the mission, the crew returned to the base and the helicopter was reconditioned to resume the alarm service.
The Search and Rescue (SAR) section of the Italian Collaboration Mission in the Defense Field carries out its activity with mixed Italian-Maltese crews, guaranteeing on the island of Malta a Search and Rescue Service 24 hours a day, every day of the year, with the HH212A helicopters of the Italian Air Force, even in the most difficult weather conditions.
