Last Friday Libeccio ship as part of the surveillance and fight against piracy in the Indian Ocean, during the friendly approach of some dhow, typical local fishing boats, provided medical assistance to some crew members.
In particular, after the safety of the boats by the team of the San Marco marine brigade and the Diving Operations Group, the medical personnel on board made up of lieutenant Annalisa Leonardi and 1 ° m.llo Luigi Palumbo, once on board, he provided the necessary care; the most delicate health case was that caused by an untreated shark bite.
From the checks carried out it was possible to ascertain that the crews of the boats were intent exclusively on fishing, therefore information material was provided for the fight against piracy, thus contributing to increasing the consensus of the maritime Community towards the EUROPEAN NAVAL FORCE (EUNAVFOR ) to which Italy participates with Nave Libeccio as flagship of CTF 465.
