SNMG 2 units, deployed in the waters of the Black Sea since 23 March, today conducted an exercise with the Georgia Coast Guard.

The two Island-class patrol boats of the Georgian Coast Guard (GCG) joined the NATO naval group in the morning, in the waters in front of the port, to carry out a series of exercise activities, from those of radio communications and with traditional systems (flashes of light and flags), to maneuvers in formation.

"Today's exercise with GCG Dioskuria and GCG Ochamshire units" declared the commander of SNMG2, Rear Admiral Paolo Fantoni "represented a great opportunity to strengthen interoperability and maritime cooperation with Georgia, one of NATO's most enduring partner nations. Although the current health situation has not allowed us to hold meetings with the Georgian authorities, the ability to carry out the our task at sea was not affected by the COVID ".

SNMG 2 will continue its deployment in the Black Sea and the Mediterranean.
