First course on environmental protection for Kosovo Police

Today the first "Environmental Crime Course" on environmental protection has been completed, carried out by the soldiers of the Carabinieri in favor of the police of Kosovo Police (KP).

The closing ceremony, held today at the MSU base in Pristina, was attended by the deputy commander of KFOR, brigadier general Christina Riener, and the Italian ambassador Piero Cristoforo Sardi, who, in the presence of the head of the KP col. Shpend Maxhuni and the MSU commander col. Marco Di Stefano, presented the certificates of participation to the 20 attendees.

The course, born of agreements between the Arma dei Carabinieri and the KP, was intended to provide basic knowledge to police officers in the field of environmental protection. The program developed in 3 weeks, including theoretical and practical lessons, and addressed various issues concerning the environment: the definition of environment; man and the environment; effects of pollution on humans, on matrices and nutrition; international bodies; protocols, treaties and conventions and international regulation on the transport of materials / liquids / gases on the road.

The activities were carried out by the forest and carabinieri police Ecological Operative Core (NOE), highly specialized military personnel on the theme of environmental protection.

The KFOR MSU is a multinational unit based on the Arma dei Carabinieri which has been operating in Kosovo since 1999. The operational units of the MSU carry out the tasks of responding and maintaining public order, supporting local police forces and monitoring aspects concerning public safety.
