First "Close Quarter Battle Skills" course in favor of the General Directorate of State Security (GDSS)

Ended at the Shama base, the first course Close Quarter Battle Skills in favor of the actual staff at the General Directorate of State Security (GDSS) by ITALBATT peacekeepers, the Italian-led Battalion deployed in the south of Lebanon, based on 183 ° Paratroopers Regiment "Nembo" and 3 ° Paratrooper Regiment "Savoia Cavalleria".

The course, developed by the instructors of the 183rd Parachute Regiment "Nembo", was conducted with theoretical and practical lessons regarding movement in urbanized areas, the techniques of breaking into and reclamation of buildings and technical-tactical procedures, at team level, for combat in urban areas and ended with an exercise in which the platoon-level unit was called to plan and conduct a "cordon & search" type operation of a town, simulated within the base of Shama, to searching for and catching a suspicious item.

The commander of ITALBATT, Colonel Cristian Margheriti, underlined the importance of this kind of activity carried out with the Lebanese colleagues: "training moment, which sees professionals from the two countries working side by side, in the profitable intent to share their methodologies and cement the synergy that sees them protagonists every day in southern Lebanon."
