As part of the operations of enhanced Air Policing of NATO, the Italian personnel of the Air Task Force “32nd Wing”, located at the Malbork air base in Poland, made their closeness and gratitude felt to the community that hosts them through solidarity activities.

Specifically, a solidarity collection was carried out which supported Ukrainian refugees hosted in a local parish and, during the Christmas holidays, a public center which hosts autistic children and those with serious intellectual disabilities. The support that the Italian militaries provide to the children of a foster home reception center through the supply of hot meals and food products is now constant and daily.

“Not only in support of the defense of the skies of Poland and the eastern side of NATO, but also alongside the most needy of this community who welcomed us with so much affection and gratitude”, these are the words of Colonel Antonio Vergallo, commander of the Air Task Force “[…] Since last September the Malbork community has represented a large family for us to defend and protect also through the personal and voluntary commitment of the soldiers of our contingent”.

THEAir Shielding, of which the permanent device is an integral part Air Policing, is a NATO-led collective defense mission that is conducted seamlessly 365 days a year and is managed byallied air command (AIRCOM) of Ramstein (Germany).

The activities carried out in the "operational theater" are conducted according to the directives given by the Joint Forces Operational Command (COVI), which is the high command of the defense deputized for the planning, coordination and direction of exercises and joint operations at national and international level.
