Operation eVa: joint training for eVA BG Hungary TACP teams

An intense training week ended which saw the TACP team (Tactical Air Control party) of the Italian contingent deployed as part of the NATO "eVA-BG" operation in Hungary, conducting a series of activities jointly with wing fixed and rotary wing in coordination with the TACP and JTAC (Joint Terminal Attack Controller) under the eVA Battle Group.

The team of the Italian contingent was able to deal with their Hungarian, Croatian and American colleagues present in the area of ​​operations, increasing their skills and capabilities for the correct application of NATO inter-force procedures.

The activity was made even more realistic by exploiting the training of the Italian company units, made up of light Alpine infantry platoons, cavalry scouting units, engineer units, artillery and mortars, which simulated the conduct of an area defense of the territory alternating a defense of positions with braking activity.

The TACP and JTAC teams are assets assigned to control the CAS (Close Air Support) air support in favor of the ground units deployed on the ground.

During the JTAC training week, the training activities included, in addition to theoretical and planning lessons, also driving activities on fire and in white, day and night of fixed and rotary wing assets, including H145M and Mi24 "Hind" helicopters of 86th Helicopter Wing and J39 “Grippen” aircraft of the Hungarian Air Force, up to the more impressive B52H of the US Air Force.

Il Battle Group NATO TO deployed on the south-eastern flank of the Atlantic Alliance, which includes not only the Alpini of the "Julia" brigade of the Army, but also departments of Hungary, Croatia and the United States, has the purpose of strengthening defense measures and constitutes a strengthening of the principle of deterrence of the Atlantic Alliance.
