Atalanta's anti-piracy operation, Italy passes the baton to Germany

Last day of ship Carabiniere in command of the European Operation Naval Force Atalanta. On board the Italian ship, early in the morning, an official ceremony sanctioned the transfer of the command of EU NAVFOR Somalia between force commander Italian rear-admiral Stefano Barbieri, in office since 6 last October, and his successor, the German rear-admiral Jan Christian Kaack. Nave Carabiniere will be replaced in the Atalanta operation by Nave Euro.
