On 15 March 2023 the multi-purpose offshore patrol vessel Thaon of Revel became part of the international device Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 (SNMG2), naval immediate reaction force – Standing Naval Forces – of NATO by taking over the frigate Margottini, engaged in the same operational activity since last January.
Ship Thaon of Revel will also take part in the operation Noble Shield, a presence, surveillance and deterrence activity for the maintenance of the necessary level of maritime security and an adequate "Maritime Situational Awareness" (MSA) in the strategic area of the central-eastern Mediterranean, through the deployment of a multinational maritime device .
