Nave's commitment has been concluded a few days ago Sirocco in the waters in front of the port of Haifa, a sea area where the Italian frigate participated, with the Israeli Navy, in the bilateral exercise "Rising Star 2017".

The Italian Navy was also present at the exercise with the submarine Todaro and an SH-212 helicopter, while the Israeli Navy participated with patrol boats Hanit, Romah e Kechet, the submarine Tannin of the class Dolphin and a helicopter Panther.

The exercise, characterized by a joint planning phase in port and an operational phase at sea, saw the crews involved in the different forms of struggle and threat (underwater, air and surface), touching on aspects connected with the control of the damage and emergency medical intervention.

The focus of the "Rising Star 2017" was above all the contrast to the underwater threat, with simulations at sea that provided the crews with an excellent opportunity to verify the interoperability between the two navies.

The commitment of the crews and above all of the ASW teams made it possible to achieve excellent training levels and to collect the appreciation of the counterpart.

Leaving the port of Haifa, Ship Sirocco made a brief but significant stop at sea, exactly on the spot where, over 75 years ago (10 August 1942), the submarine Scirè - with its crew, consisting of Commander Bruno Zelik and other 8 officers, 19 non-commissioned officers, 21 sub-chiefs and 11 sailors - was sunk by the British Navy.

With a solemn ceremony, the ship's crew paid the honors and laid a crown in the sea, in that sea which, at just over thirty meters deep, still guards the wreck of the Scirè.
