Nave Gaeta concludes its operational commitment at the service of NATO and the country as part of the Noble Shield operation

Ship Gaeta successfully concluded its operational deployment as part of the operation Noble Shield after 107 intense days serving the Atlantic Alliance and the country.

Departed from the port of La Spezia on 6 September 2023, Ship Gaeta it actively participated in several international exercises, playing a crucial role in maritime surveillance in the entire Mediterranean basin. In fact, the naval unit, covering more than 7500 miles, sailed from the Ligurian Sea to the Atlantic Ocean, reaching Portugal and then again in the Mediterranean basin crossing the territorial waters of Italy and Greece until arriving in the eastern Mediterranean, in Turkey .

The ship's crew Gaeta demonstrated a high degree of operational readiness, collaborating with various naval assets of the countries visited, and participating in various international exercises including Dynamic Messenger in Portugal, Dynamic Mariner in Italy, Dogu Akdeniz e Nusret in Türkiye. During the entire period the crew trained in minehunter operations and contributed to the protection of accesses to some national ports, to the monitoring of underwater infrastructures, while at the same time guaranteeing the protection of national interests and safeguarding the safety of navigation. The ship's crew also played an important role in naval diplomacy, proudly carrying the national flag and consolidating positive relationships with the nations they passed through.

After 107 days full of experiences and challenges, the crew of Nave Gaeta returns home to reunite with their families, bringing with them the satisfaction of having contributed to maintaining security and stability in the Mediterranean, confirming Italy's commitment to international operations and the Atlantic Alliance.
