With departure from the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Spain) on 13 September and reaching the Gulf of Guinea, the Offshore Patrol Vessel Commander Foscari became part of the anti-piracy operation Gabinia.

By compromising freedom of navigation, the phenomenon of piracy hinders the international production and commercial chain, to the detriment of the global economy.

The Gulf of Guinea is one of the seas in the world most at risk from piracy attacks, but at the same time of extreme importance for our country, due to its close connection with the Mediterranean.

The mission of the unit under the command of frigate captain Daniele Inguscio will be to protect the maritime communications routes, foster cooperation with the navies of the coastal countries, to consolidate mutual knowledge and trust in favor of improving safety conditions in the waters of the region and to protect national interests.
