Interactions and cooperation between the civil and military spheres were the focus of a workshop organized in recent days by NATO's ministerial-level advisory division in Iraq, in favor of senior officers and generals from the operational commands of the Iraqi Armed Forces.

The seminar was held in Baghdad, at the local command of the land forces, by an officer of the CIMIC regiment of Motta di Livenza (Treviso), as part of the strategic level consultancy activities carried out by NATO for the Iraqi military institutions.

The Italian specialist carries out the task of advisor on civil-military relations and focused the workshop on the doctrinal concepts of the Atlantic Alliance.

After a theoretical part, the Iraqi officers carried out group activities to consolidate the concepts related to the different levels of interaction that can exist in the civilian sphere between military and non-military actors. In particular, the partners of the Iraqi Security Forces have particularly appreciated the expertise of the Italian Defense in the management of crises on the national territory and abroad.

Italy provides the chief of staff in Baghdad and numerous experts in various functional areas, who advise officials of the Ministry of Defense and the office of the national security adviser, as well as training and consultancy activities in favor of Iraqi military.
