MISIN: advanced training for Nigerian Armed Forces personnel

The closing ceremony of two specialized courses that saw the Italian soldiers of the Bilateral Support Mission in Niger (MISIN) engaged as instructors for the personnel of the paratroopers battalion of the Nigerian Armed Forces (FAN).

The event took place at the Training Center for Airborne Troops of Niamey (CITAP), in the presence of the commander of MISIN, Brigadier General Liberato Amadio, accompanied by the commander of the Nigerian parachute battalion, Colonel Adamou Seini.

Specifically, the 2nd "Selected shooters" course, conducted from 8 August to 30 September, was aimed at the knowledge and use of the weapons supplied (pistol cal.9, M16, AK47, SVD Dragunov), at the development of techniques of approaching a target and of occult movement, observation of the battlefield, estimation of distances and understanding in the context of the shooter-observer binomial.

The course ended with a livex focused activity, in which all the technical-tactical procedures learned during the intense training cycle were applied.    

During the 3rd course "Automatic parachute auditor" instead, conducted from 19 to 30 September at the CITAP, the technical and control procedures were acquired and deepened, as well as the notions relating to the auditor's responsibility in the operations of folding the parachute. with automatic opening and auxiliary.

The commander of MISIN, during his speech, addressed a particular thanks to the instructors of the Mobile Training Team (MTT) of the Italian Army, made up of personnel from the 183rd "Nembo" parachute regiment and the Paratrooper Training Center (CAPAR) of the paratroopers brigade thunderbolt who have shown extreme professionalism, pursuing the delicate task of training and training the personnel of the Niger Defense Forces, in full awareness of the operational employment in which their colleagues will soon be engaged.

Brigadier General Liberato Amadio, at the time of delivering the certificates to course attendees, wished the new specialists the best wishes, recommending them to "be proud" of the ambitious educational goal achieved and the delicate role they play for the security of their country, especially in the fight against terrorism and illicit trafficking.

The activities of MISIN, born in 2018, in accordance with the cooperation agreements between the Italian Government and the Nigerian Government, are conducted under the coordination and according to the directives given by the Interoperable Summit Operations Command (COVI), led by the general of the army corps Francesco Paolo Figliuolo.
