Italian soldiers save a child in Kosovo

Two Italian soldiers working at the Joint Regional Detachment Center (JRDC) of the KFOR mission in Kosovo, assisted and assisted a Kosovar child who was in serious danger. Employed in an ordinary monitoring activity of the territory, the two soldiers noticed that a child of 6 years was in obvious danger of life, struck by illness.

The two soldiers immediately gave first aid, at the same time activating local health facilities for urgent hospitalization. The Italian military subsequently evacuated the child to the Pec / Peja hospital, where he was declared out of danger as a result of medical treatment.

Honorable thanks were expressed by the family of the child who appreciated the speedy medical intervention by the military of the Italian contingent of KFOR.

The Italian military of the JRDC work in close contact with the local population, with tasks of monitoring and relationship with the local civil, religious and political authorities in order to know the Kosovar social fabric and provide a constant "situational awareness" to KFOR, which an action of presence and deterrence in order to maintain a safe environment and prevent the use of violence, while contributing to the consolidation of peace and the process of civil growth.

The NATO K-FOR mission, led by the divisional general Figliuolo, contributes to the process of security and stabilization of the Balkan area by providing specialized personnel in various sectors, in particular training, consultancy, legal and police, as well as being included in the Command staff of the various missions.

The Italian contingent in Kosovo sees the presence of 550 men who operate mainly in the Multinational Battle Group West, a national leader, and in the KFOR Command staff.
