Italian and Moldovan military train together with Ukrainian engineers to ensure freedom of movement in the western sector of Kosovo

Italian and Moldovan military of the Multinational Battle Group – West (MNBG-W) have today conducted, together with a platoon of Ukrainian engineers, a joint training called "Freedom of Movement Detachment" aimed at removing obstacles or roadblocks to ensure freedom of movement in the event of serious unrest or mass demonstrations violent.

This particular activity is part of the more general crowd control operations provided for by United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 which defines the tasks of KFOR's MNBG-W aimed at guaranteeing the safety of the Decane Monastery as first responsible (first responder), to control and maintain freedom of movement in the western sector of Kosovo and to develop Civil and Military Cooperation (CIMIC) projects.

Joint training is a fundamental moment of mutual professional growth that improves interoperability and promotes the standardization of procedures between the various multinational units of KFOR.

Il Multinational Battle Group-West (MNBG-W) is an Italian-led multinational command of KFOR, based on 3 ° mountain artillery regiment of the Alpine "Julia" brigade, composed of about 650 men and women belonging to the four contingents of Italy, Austria, Moldavia and Slovenia.
