(To Greater Defense)
18/08/17

A series of CIMIC courses organized by the Italian Bilateral Military Mission in Lebanon (MIBIL) in favor of the personnel of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and National Security Forces. The Ambassador of Italy to Lebanon took part in the event, if Massimo Marotti, the commander of the Mission, Brigadier General Salvatore Radizza and high local military authorities.

The intense training session took place over four weeks at the CIMIC Directorate of Beirut coordinated by instructors from the Multinational CIMIC Group of Motta di Livenza (TV), allowing to develop the three core functions of the CIMIC Operational Function or link, support to the force, support to the civil environment.

The course led to the training of “functional specialists”, personnel capable of managing the complexity of the dynamics and relationships between the various actors (military and non-military) in support of the missions. A total of 66 students were trained (including 42 officers), carefully selected from those already operating or for future employment in the specialist branch. The program of the course saw the contribution of representatives of some International Organizations (IOs) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) such as UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), UNDP (United Nations Development Program), ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross & Red Crescent) and MARCH (an NGO based in Lebanon).

The MIBIL, operating in Lebanon from the 2015, develops military assistance activities (training and training) in favor of the Armed Forces and local Security Forces, framing itself in the broader international context that aims to support the institutions of the Middle Eastern nation affected by serious social and economic problems - with possible repercussions on the situation of internal stability - as a result of the ongoing Syrian crisis.
