MIBIL, conventional explosive handling course completed

At l 'information department of the Internal Security Force (ISF) in Beirut, the final ceremony of the training course took place conventional explosive handling, in which Colonel Sandro Iervolino, commander of the Italian Bilateral Mission in Lebanon (MIBIL) and Captain Amer Kusheish, ofinformation department of the ISF.

The training activity lasting 3 weeks, conducted by a Mobile Training Team composed of n. 5 instructors working for the 1st Parachute Carabinieri Regiment Tuscania, allowed us to train n. 25 specialists belonging to different special forces departments of the Internal Security Forces (ISF): in particular the Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT), the General Directorate for State Security (GDSS), theinformation department, the special unit “Black Panthers” and the governmental guard.

The training activities, characterized by a robust theoretical framework and some practical activities - carried out in the structures of the ISF Academy of Aramoun, have increased the technical-professional background of the Lebanese attendees, who, despite demonstrating already high level basic skills, have benefited from the competence and experience of the Italian instructors.

Various scenarios were presented and put into practice during the training, all relating to probable and real operational situations. As part of the activity, important issues related to the use of explosives were also addressed, such as operational first aid.

The activities made it possible to achieve a useful osmosis both operational and training between the various departments of the ISF and the team of MIBIL, as part of an increasingly consolidated bond between the respective countries and their Security Forces.

The courses conducted by Bilateral Mission in recent years, together with those scheduled for 2024, will allow the technical and procedural updating as well as the overall increase in capacity of the Lebanese Security Forces also in the sector of the use of explosives for police operations.
