During the first half of 2016, the MBIL (Italian Bilateral Military Mission in Lebanon) carried out 10 courses for the benefit of over 170 military personnel: 50 officers, 57 non-commissioned officers and 64 troops of the LAF (Lebanese Armed Forces).

These are:

- combat in the mountains and for select shooters;

- training for crowd control;

- defense of military installations;

- clearance from explosive devices.

There are more than 780 hours of theoretical and practical lessons carried out by instructors from the Army and the Carabinieri at the AS-SAMAYAH Training Center, a modern training center also equipped with a latest generation climbing tower.

It is "a collaboration that goes on successfully", said the commander of the mission, comforted by numbers that "give the exact perception of the budget of the activities conducted in the first six months of the year".

Those mentioned are just some of the activities carried out in favor of the LAF by the MBIL.

The MIBIL - born in 2014 following the meetings of the ISG (International Support Group for Lebanon) and operational since March 2015 - has the task of creating training, assistance and consultancy programs in order to increase the capacity of the LAF. The activities of the MBIL are carried out in collaboration with the Lebanese training directorate and with the support of the military defense attache at the Italian embassy in Beirut.
