MIADIT SOMALIA 18: finished the course for dog units

The conclusion ceremony of the training carried out by the carabinieri of the police took place in recent days at the Djibouti Police Academy in East Africa dog center of Florence - part of the "MIADIT" training mission - to the agents of the special "RAID" department of Djibouti, within which the canine brigade.

The course, lasting 7 weeks, was initially based on the construction and strengthening of the dog/handler combination, indispensable for involving the animal in any type of work and, subsequently, saw the training of the dog units in obedience and control, attack, search for explosives and drugs.

In addition, an in-depth analysis of the sector legislation was carried out, in order to contribute to the creation of a publication on the subject of training organization, which makes the activities even more effective, adapting them to the peculiarities of the Djiboutian territory.

During the end-of-course ceremony, a demonstration of some learned activities was given, including the simultaneous use of a pair of dogs to attack two criminals, and the search for an explosive hidden inside a car.

The event was attended by the commander of the Police Academy Colonel Omar Youssouf Omar, the commander of MIADIT 18 Colonel Calabrò, as well as other local military authorities.
