MIADIT Palestine 16, opening of the training mission

At the headquarters of general military training commission of Jericho, the opening ceremony of the 16th edition of the Italian training mission called MIADIT Palestine 16.

The mission is entrusted to a team of 30 soldiers from the Carabinieri, under the command of Colonel Giuliano Polito, who will carry out training and specialization courses in favor of the police forces operating in the areas under the responsibility of thePalestinian national authority and in close collaboration with the international actors present in the theater, in particular with the United States security coordinator of Jerusalem and with the European mission EUPOL COPPS of Ramallah.

The training cycle, lasting twelve weeks, involves the provision of technical-professional courses aimed at perfecting the ability to intervene in police operations (public protection and safety, control of the territory, control of suspicious persons, decisive interventions in case of serious threat, operational intervention procedures aimed at preventing and repressing crime, tactical courses aimed at increasing response capabilities in risk situations) as well as the execution of specialized courses through Mobile Training Teams (MTT) in the areas of road traffic, gender perspective, negotiation techniques, safe driving, logistics/administration and protection of cultural heritage. Furthermore, at the request of the Palestinian counterpart, an Italian language course was also organised.

In previous editions of the MIADIT Palestine missions, approximately 5.000 members of the Palestinian police force were trained, trained and specialized. During this mission, students will be trained by personnel designated by the general military training commission, From Palestinian civil police, From national security force, From presidential guard and from general administration for crossings and borders.

All activities carried out in the operational theater are conducted under the coordination and according to the directives given by the Joint Forces Top Operational Command (COVI), led by Army Corps General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo. In this regard, COVI is the top command placed directly under the Chief of Defense Staff, responsible for the planning, coordination and direction of military operations, national and multinational joint exercises and related activities.​
