Yesterday aboard the frigate Fasan, the flagship unit of the “Mare Sicurezza” air-naval security device, a three-month-old baby girl from Nigeria rescued during a rescue operation in northern Libya was baptized. The mother, of Catholic religion, asked the military chaplain Don Vincenzo Caiazzo present on board to officiate the rite.
The baptism was celebrated in English on the ship's bridge flap, in the presence of a crew representative.
The child's godmother was Lieutenant Ottavia Balbi, medical advisor to the staff of Safe Sea, godfather the commander of the rear-admiral operation Albero Maffeis.
