The Italian blue helmets of Italbatt (national maneuver battalion of the Sector West of Unifil) contributed, after a request by the mayor of Dair Qanun to the extinction of a vast fire in the Lebanese town. The Italian military intervened in support of the Civil Defense, with some men and a water tank, decisive for allowing the fire to be contained and extinguished.
The person in charge of the event also spoke on the spot Civil Defense for the province of Tiro, Ahmed Ghrouyeib, who together with the mayor, Moustafa Siklawi thanked Unifil's blue helmets for the effort and timeliness of the intervention as the flames, due to the strong wind, were about to damage some houses.
Italbatt, led by the "Genova Cavalleria" regiment (4th), is framed in the western sector of Unifil currently entrusted to the "Pozzuolo del Friuli" cavalry brigade on its fifth term in the land of cedars.
