Italy organizes courses and donates fishing materials to the Somali population

Yesterday, at the Porto Vecchio of Mogadishu, the Italian military of the National Support Element they donated to the local fishing cooperative "HIBO Fishery Cooperatives" materials needed for the construction and subsequent maintenance of fishing nets whose local craft techniques were the subject of a course of about two months.

The initiative, created as part of the cooperation activities between Italy and Somalia in favor of the local population, aims to promote the inclusion of female staff in the fishing labor market, currently characterized by the almost exclusive presence of men, through involvement in the 20 project women, coming from the nearby refugee camps and coastal districts.

The activity is reproposed again this year in light of the success of the course held in the 2014 and has received the approval and support of the local authorities and in particular of the Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Said Jama Ghalib.

The minister attended the closing ceremony of the course during which certificates of participation were delivered.
