A new humanitarian operation carried out by Italy at the Libyan request ended this afternoon.
Shortly after 18:30 today, a C130 of the Italian Air Force landed at Ciampino military airport carrying 11 wounded Libyans.

The military aircraft arrived this morning in Misrata with a medical team of specialists from the "Celio" Military Polyclinic to pick up Libyan personnel to be transferred to Italy to receive the necessary health care.

Minister Roberta Pinotti and the Chief of Defense General Staff Claudio Graziano congratulated the personnel belonging to the armed forces who contributed to the success of this delicate operation conducted in close collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The operation was followed for the organizational phase and conducted by the Joint Chief Operating Officer (COI).

Two similar operations have taken place since the beginning of 2016, one on 11 January and the other last May.
