The initiative is part of a multidimensional support activity for the Libyan state.

In addition to the supply of medical supplies and medicines, the “Hippocrates” operation provides for the transport and treatment of wounded Libyans who are fighting against Daesh in Libya.

To accompany the mission the ambassador designated in Libya, Giuseppe Perrone, and the special envoy of the Foreign Minister for Libya, Giorgio Starace, to whom the local authorities have expressed appreciation for Italy's continued support for Libya.

The approximately 3 tons of medicines and medical supports, transported to the two Libyan cities with a C-130J of the Italian Air Force, were delivered to the military hospital of Tripoli and to the civil one of Misurata.

Thanks to these materials it will be possible to guarantee basic care to approximately 10.000 people for 3 months and specific injuries to war-wounded 100. This is the sixth shipment of drugs made by Italian Cooperation in favor of Libya since the beginning of the year, with a total value of over 2,5 million.

The "Hippocrates" operation includes one task force of military 300 subdivided between a health component (field hospital), a command / control and logistics operation and a protection unit for all the components of the healthcare facility.
