Lebanon: ITALAIR health assistance is available

On Tuesday a helicopter of the ITALAIR Task Force, a flight unit operating within the UNIFIL mission (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon), successfully completed a medical evacuation mission (MEDical EVACuation) of a blue helmet from the Fiji Islands in the West sector of the Operations Area.

The Italian helicopter, taken off from the Naqoura heliport, reached the UN station within a few minutes of receiving the alarm in the Operation Area where the soldier was on duty and, once the injured party had stabilized by the team French physician (Air Medical Evacuation Team) who works in conjunction with ITALAIR personnel in the event of health emergencies, carried out the transport of the wounded to St. George Hospital in Beirut.

The excellent teamwork of the various components of UNIFIL, the result of high professionalism and continuous training, has allowed us to carry out the mission in a precise and effective manner, thus allowing the Fijian peacekeeper to receive the necessary care in a very short time .

The ITALAIR Task Force, currently commanded by Colonel Giovanni Maria Scopelliti, is from the 1979 that continuously supports all the activities of the United Nations in Lebanon, guaranteeing daily 24 hours on 24 reconnaissance and observation flights throughout the Area of ​​Operations and in particularly along the Blue Line, the demarcation line between Lebanon and Israel, in full compliance with the UN Security Council 1701 resolution.
