The visit of the Chinese diplomatic delegation to the UN-P 1-31 advanced base of the Italian contingent took place yesterday, on the border between Lebanon and Israel.

Led by Wang Kejian, ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Lebanon, the delegation was welcomed by Colonel Massimo Crocco Barisano Colizza, commander of the maneuvering unit (ITALBATT) of the Joint Task Force-Lebanon. Diplomatic leaders and officials have had the opportunity to attend briefing information from the UNIFIL HQ which illustrated the history and characteristics of the Blue Line, line of demarcation between the two countries that sees in the alignment of the characteristics Blue Pillar its materialization.

The advanced base, under the control of a platoon of the "Lancieri di Montebello" regiment (8 °), is the outpost of the Italian contingent in Lebanon as part of the UNIFIL mission, with the task of continuously monitoring the Blue Line, as enshrined in UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

The Italian contingent constantly collaborates with the Chinese engineering units in the demining activities of the western UNIFIL operation area, providing a precious safety framework during the delicate demining and reclamation operations.
