In recent days, at the base of Shama, the meeting between the major states of UNIFIL's Sector West, based on the Alpine brigade, took place. Taurinense, and of the 5 ^ brigade of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), a unit that insists on the area of responsibility of the Italian-led sector.
An important moment of confrontation, the one between the two staff, which was aimed at increasing the joint activities between the two commands and further improving integration through the planning of common trainings to make the activities carried out, in close coordination, by the Italian and Lebanese military more effective.
Support for the Lebanese Armed Forces is one of the main tasks assigned to the UNIFIL contingents by the United Nations 1701 Resolution, together with the monitoring of the cessation of hostilities and support to the local population.
