This morning, at the military base of Karantina in Beirut, the ceremony was held which formalized Italy's donation of 8 vehicles (5 54-seat buses and 3 9-seat minibuses) destined for the Lebanese Armed Forces ( THE F).

Present at the event, the Italian ambassador in Beirut Nicoletta Bombardiere, the commander of the Bilateral Italian Mission in Lebanon (MIBIL) Colonel Angelo Sacco, Brigadier General Nemr Abi Nassif with Parisian Johnny Akel.

The vehicles were purchased with funds made available by the Italian Ministry of Defense and this supply of vehicles is only the most recent of the initiatives which, over the years, have seen the Defense as the protagonist, in concert with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in the numerous activities aimed at promoting and supporting the stability of Lebanon, a country that is still going through an extremely difficult period.

Coordinated by the J9 CIMIC (Civil-Military Cooperation) Division of the Interoperable Summit Operations Command (COVI), today's ceremony is the culmination of a project launched in June 2021 during an international video conference attended by 20 countries, together with representatives of the UN and the EU, co-chaired by the Ministers of Defense of Italy and France.

Great satisfaction was expressed by General Nassif, who wanted to underline, once again, the deep bond of friendship that binds Lebanon to Italy.

Italy is engaged in Lebanon, with its own Armed Forces, in the Leonte operation, part of the UNIFIL contingent, and with the Italian Bilateral Mission (MIBIL) which has the task of coordinating and developing the training and education activities agreed with the Lebanese authorities, to contribute to the capacity growth of the LAF, in order to make them capable of dealing effectively and independently with the precarious security situation in the country.
