Lebanon: the Granatieri brigade gives the command of the "Leonte" operation to the Folgore brigade

Yesterday evening, at the "Millevoi" base in Shama in Lebanon, the transfer of authority for the command of the Italian contingent employed in the UNIFIL mission took place.

La Joint Task Force - Lebanon, on the basis of brigade "Granatieri di Sardegna" and under the command of Brigadier General Francesco Olla, handed over the command "Leonte" to the brigade "Folgore" and its commander, the parishion Rodolfo Sganga.

UNIFIL present at the ceremony Force Commander / Head of Mission, Major General Michael Beary, and the Deputy Commander of the Air Force Summit Operations Command, Nicola Lanza de Cristoforis, as well as numerous Lebanese civilian and military authorities.

The deployment of the multinational ceremony was made up of units from the Malaysian, Finnish-Irish, Ghanaian and South Korean korean battalions, as well as the maneuvering unit (ITALBATT) and combat support (Combat Support Battalion - CS Bn ) and logistics (Combat and Service Support Battalion - CSS Bn) of the Italian contingent.

From last April to today, i peacekeepers Italians employed in the "Leonte XXII" operation carried out all activities envisaged by United Nations Security Council Resolution n.1701, conducting over 150 patrols per day along the Blue Line and within the area of ​​operation, developing numerous training activities in favor of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and promoting important initiatives in support of the local population through the CIMIC (Civil and Military Cooperation) function which saw thousands of assisted in medical care, hundreds of attendants to organized educational courses and dozens of humanitarian projects developed.
