Lebanon: the "Friuli" brigade takes over from the "Pinerolo" in UNIFIL's Sector West

The Chief of Defense Staff, General Claudio Graziano attended the ceremony to change the leadership of the UNIFIL Sector West that took place this afternoon at the "Millevoi" base in Shama, headquarters of the UNIFIL West Sector Command and of the national contingent, between the "Pinerolo" Brigade, the transferor, and the "Friuli" Brigade, which took over.

The event was attended by representatives of local political, religious and military authorities, as well as delegations of different nationalities present in UNIFIL.

General Claudio Graziano, in his speech, congratulated the commander commander, Brigadier General Stefano Del Col for his impeccable work. He then wanted to emphasize the importance of UNIFIL considered the main stabilizing force of the region, and highlighted the links between Italy and Lebanon, as well as the growing cooperation between the two countries that led to the opening of the Training Lebanese Armed Forces.

General Graziano expressed his best wishes to Brigadier General Salvatore Cuoci who gives today he will command the over three thousand peacekeepers operating in UNIFIL's West Sector.
