Activities in support of institutions and the local population continue through the implementation of civil-military cooperation projects (CIMIC), carried out by the Italian contingent of UNIFIL, currently based on the "Friuli" Aircraft Brigade.
In particular, in recent days the contingent has completed and inaugurated two important projects, one in the city of Tire and one in the village of Tibnine. In Tire, 50 solar-powered street lamps were installed on the seafront, which will contribute to road safety and the livability of the city, while in Tibnine - in partnership with the local administration - a football field was built to facilitate moments of aggregation and the sporting activity of local young people. During the inauguration of the latter, clothing and sports material - offered by the Italian company "Macron" - was also donated to the local sports club.
To the commander of the western sector of UNIFIL General Salvatore Cuoci, present at both events, the local authorities expressed their appreciation and thanks for the work carried out daily by the Italian blue helmets, a sentiment shared by the population and witnessed by the public delivery of the honorary citizenship of both common.
