The Joint Task Force Lebanon Sector West of UNIFIL (JIF-L SW), led by Italy, based on the Folgore parachute brigade, in recent weeks has completed a cycle of project inaugurations to meet the most pressing needs of local communities.
A photovoltaic plant was built in the municipality of Bint Jubail to supply electricity to the waste management centre. A second plant was built in favor of the national police command.
In Tibnin, the project to renovate the roof of the female orphanage was completed, while projects related to the collection and sanitation of water were inaugurated in the municipalities of Marwahin, Tayr Harfa, Al Bayyad and Al Hinniyah.
Photovoltaic-operated street lamps were installed in Shama and Tire and the interventions for the redevelopment of the Al Bass archaeological site were inaugurated.
At the Christian center "Ya Salam" in the municipality of Al Qawzah, a vurta, or an octagonal pergola, was inaugurated, entirely built by the specialized assets of the brigade's Engineers thunderbolt; they then built an aviary inside the Institute for boys with special needs at Aita as Shab.
The activities outreach continue across the board, in perfect harmony with the other operational functions, as Brigadier General Vergori specified: "UNIFIL combines over 400 daily operational activities, of which more than 220 conducted by the West Sector, conducted in full compliance with the mandate of United Nations Resolution 1701, with great attention to the needs of the local population, well supported by motivation, seriousness of purpose and respect for the cultures and customs of the communities of South Lebanon. It is part of our traditions and our values, reflected in a consolidated operating model that has always been characterized by credibility, mediation skills, the search for dialogue and a natural aptitude for finding new and effective cooperation tools every time".
The activities carried out in the Operative Theater are conducted under the coordination and according to the directives given by the operational command of interforce forces (COVI), which is the Defense High Command led by Army Corps General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo and responsible for planning, coordinating and directing military operations, national and multinational joint exercises and related activities.
