Lebanon: road for the local population inaugurated by Italian blue helmets

A paved road to improve road conditions in the municipality of Tibnin is the work carried out by the Italian contingent in Lebanon used in the UNIFIL mission with a CIMIC (Civil and Military Cooperation) project and inaugurated yesterday.

Together with the local authorities, Brigadier General Francesco Olla, commander of the Joint Task Force-Lebanon, has inaugurated the road section that will improve the connection with the neighboring municipalities and, at the same time, will guarantee optimal road safety conditions.

The municipality of Tibnin is among the main inhabited centers of the UNIFIL area of ​​operation-Sector West, the multinational contingent with Italian leadership and composed of units from twelve different different contributing countries.

The design and construction of the inaugurated road, almost a kilometer long and completed in nine days, was promoted by CIMIC qualified personnel of the Italian contingent, employed in Lebanon with the "Leonte XXII" Operation and on a brigade basis since 27 April. Grenadiers of Sardinia ".

This personnel comes from the "Multinational CIMIC Group" of Motta di Livenza (TV), from the 2002 Operations Center and leader in cooperation with the main international and non-governmental organizations, both Italian and foreign, in all operations of the Armed Forces.

The CIMIC activity is a fundamental operational function in the UNIFIL context where, as always, the Joint Task Force-Lebanon has always worked in support of local authorities and non-governmental associations, as dictated by the UN Security Council Resolution 1701 of the 2006.
