Lebanon: dialogue is the key to success

In Shama (South Lebanon), in recent days, the commander of the Sector West (SW) of UNIFIL and the Italian contingent in Lebanon, Brigadier General Stefano Del Col, met with religious, civil and military authorities and the Lebanese media representatives of the Italian-led area of ​​responsibility.

The event was organized with the aim of bringing all the authorities together in a meaningful moment of confrontation with the blue helmets, in order to strengthen more and more the relationship of collaboration for the good of the community and for an ever more lasting stability.

On this occasion, the commander of the West Sector illustrated the activities of Civil and Military Cooperation (CIMIC) conducted by the sector's contingents in the 2014 and, in particular, by the national component. He also outlined the line of action for future interventions, agreed with local authorities.

During his speech, General Del Col highlighted how dialogue and collaboration make it possible to act with incisiveness, transparency, impartiality and in full respect of the different religions and cultures present on the territory.

The Italian contingent in Lebanon, currently based on the "Pinerolo" Brigade, is responsible for the Western Sector of UNIFIL where a multinational contingent of 3500 soldiers, from 11 different nations, operates, and of these about 1000 are Italian.
