Lebanon: the Italian contingent meets the association of Lebanese professionals graduated in Italy

It was held at the base of Shama headquarters of the Command of the West Sector of the Italian-led UNIFIL mission on a paratrooper base thunderbolt, the meeting with the association of graduates in Italy. General Rodolfo Sganga, commander of the Italian contingent, welcomed over 40 professionals working in the South of Lebanon in many fields from architecture, archeology, medicine and engineering. More than two hundred Lebanese students choose to attend Italian universities every year.

During the meeting it was clear how deeply, solidly and with very ancient roots the bond that unites these people in particular and Lebanon in general to Italy.

The bond between the Italian and the Lebanese people is very solid because it has important historical roots that allow, as recalled by General Sganga, "to feel lighter the burden of leaving our families in Italy to carry out our service in Lebanon because relieved by the feeling of being welcomed by a second family here in the land of cedars".

At the end of the evening, the president of the association wanted to pay homage to the Italian military, donating to General Rodolfo Sganga a mosaic, entirely handmade by the archeology students of Professor Hassan Badawi, depicting the coat of arms of the paratroopers brigade thunderbolt.
