With the inauguration of a road in the municipality of Ma'rakah for the connection of the city with the nearby village of Yanuh, planned since 1968 and never realized by the local authorities, today concludes a week full of events for the projects developed by the cooperation military civilian (CIMIC) of the Italian contingent of UNIFIL, on the basis of the Air Brigade Friuli, under the command of General Salvatore Cuoci.

In order of time, new roads were delivered in the municipalities of Dahira and Al Balayyad, while yesterday a solar-powered street lighting system was inaugurated in the municipality of Yarin. In this last case, the environmental aspect of the project is particularly important, which aims not only to guarantee greater road safety to the municipality through the lighting of the main street but also to introduce the concept of eco-compatibility in the construction.

During the inauguration ceremonies the local authorities, in particular Abed Al Mohsen Al Husseini, president of the Union of Municipalities of Tire always intervened, they expressed deep gratitude and appreciation towards our blue helmets defining them as an integral part of the social fabric of southern Lebanon.

Support to local authorities and the restoration of conditions for assistance to the population are among the main tasks - together with the monitoring of the cessation of hostilities and support to the Lebanese Armed Forces - assigned to UNIFIL by the UN 1701 Resolution.
