Two ceremonies officially concluded projects developed by CIMIC of the Italian contingent in Lebanon for the refurbishment of two roads in the municipalities of Tura and Rumaish.

The roads have been enlarged and paved as part of the infrastructural development of the municipalities of southern Lebanon. These projects are in addition to a long list of interventions for which Italy is committed, considering the infrastructural development of the area south of the river Litani of fundamental importance for the stabilization and maintenance of peace in the area.

The president of the Union of the Municipalities of Tire, Abed El Mohssen El Husseini, was able to highlight to General Salvatore Cuoci, Commander of the Italian contingent, the profound esteem and sincere thanks of the population for what the Italian blue helmets have accomplished. The mayor of Tura Mohammad Dhainy, for his part, underlined how the Italian contingent not only decided on the project, but also constantly followed it in its development and correct implementation.

Support to local authorities and the restoration of conditions for assistance to the population are among the main tasks - together with the monitoring of the cessation of hostilities and support to the Lebanese Armed Forces - assigned to UNIFIL by the UN 1701 Resolution.
